Donate food

Our foodbank relies on your goodwill and support.

Over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks in The Trussell Trust network is donated by the public – that’s why your food donations are absolutely vital to our ability to give everyone referred to us a balanced and nutritious three-day supply of food.

We only distribute long-life tins, jars and packets of food that don’t need a fridge.

The food we give out is designed to be nutritious and acceptable to most people.  Please stick to the core items if you are buying to donate, as the more ‘exotic’ things can’t be given to people who can’t easily make use of them.

Whilst we welcome donations of ANY unopened, in-date food that doesn’t need a fridge, ideally, if you are shopping-to-donate, then look at the list below for what we need now (and what we have plenty of!) or buy the basics that are on our food parcel packing lists please.  You can see the list here: https://fallowfieldwithington.foodbank.org.uk/get-help/whats-in-a-food-parcel/

Donating what we need means we can save money on shopping to fill gaps and on rent to store gluts of some items.

We also offer our clients treats and ‘extras’ such as biscuits and snacks and seasonal goodies, toiletries, cleaning materials, nappies and feminine hygiene products if we have them in stock.

We complement the work of the local community groceries such as The Bread and Butter Thing.

Look below on this page to see the food items that we need right now.  Or check our Twitter posts!  https://twitter.com/FandWFoodbank

If you can organise a mini food collection at your workplace or organisation for us, get in touch with us about where and when to deliver it or we can arrange to come and collect it.  Contact [email protected].

We always welcome donations and promise to use them to provide help to people in crisis. Occasionally we share or swap any gluts of food with other nearby foodbanks or community restaurants or street kitchens to support their work, particularly if they experience shortages. This ensures your donations go to help people wherever in Manchester they are.

Please contact us if you have any questions about donating food.
